Cirque du Soleil is a whole new name of circus. Over several
years of breathtaking shows, this wonderful entertainment show has greatly
transformed the traditional concept of a circus. Unlike the regular and
traditional kind of circus that involves tamed lions, fire ring jumps, unicycle
on a rope etc. Cirque du Soleil involves highly talented acrobats showcasing
their talents live in front of audiences. In fact, Cirque du Soleil is the
marriage of traditional circus and the street arts. The show conveys
entertainment in a an exclusive manner that is far more different than the
conventional concept of circus.
The unique idea of blending up traditional circus with
street arts came into the mind of its founder Guy Laliberte, the guy who
dropped out of college only to pursue corporate career in the performing arts
industry. The corporate and creative minded Laliberte was never interested in conventional
arts careers and always wanted to do something that was totally new and
innovative. To pursue his anticipated career in performing arts, Laliberte
headed to Europe and started performing in land of opportunities as a folk
musician and busker to know about the response of common public. Europe gave
him an exceptional response and boosted up his confidence to a great deal.
In Europe, he also learned the art of fire breathing before
he finally decided moving back to him homeland Canada. After getting back to
home country, Laliberte faced great financial crisis which forced him to work
at a hydroelectric power plant to generate funds. Although he was doing quite
well in his job at hydroelectric power plant, this wasn’t his ultimate goal and
soon he got ill interested and switched to performing arts, putting all his
energies and abilities in this field of arts. Today he owns world’s largest
performing arts company that we know as Cirque du Soleil.
